change your password to a unique password immediately.
1. Start Classxp (double click shortcut icon).
2. Enter your username and password in the login window.
4. Click “Change Password”, rather than “Login”. The “User Password” window will open.
5. Enter your new password in both boxes.

Taking Attendance
Since accurate attendance is important for both building
level and state records, please take care to report attendance accurately.
PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW STUDENTS TO REPORT ATTENDANCE
1. Start Classxp.
2. Enter your user name and password and click “Login”.
3. In the “Class Selection” window, verify that your homeroom is selected and click “Ok”.
4. A seating chart displaying your homeroom should open.
5. A “Class Information” window should also open. (If this window is not displayed, click “Class” from the menu along the top of the window and select “Class Info”.)
6. Verify that the correct teacher and class are displayed in the “Class Information” window.
7. Verify the correct date in the “Class Information” window.
**It is critically important to verify the correct date. The date is determined by the date and time settings on your computer. If the date and time settings on your computer are incorrect, your attendance report will not be accurate.
8. From the “Class” menu, select “Take Attendance”.
**If prompted to select A.M. or P.M. attendance, select A.M..
9. On the seating chart, click the names of all absent students so that the absent code is displayed. If your attendance office has directed you to mark tardy students, click the name of each tardy student until “UTD” is displayed.
**If a student is accidentally marked absent but is present, click the student’s name until no attendance codes are displayed.
10. Verify on the seating chart that the correct students
are marked absent.
**The “Present Today” and “Absent Today” counts are set up for half day
attendance. Each student marked absent will count as 0.5 for these totals.
This is ok.
11. Click the area along the top of the window marked “Taking Attendance - Click Here When Finished (Today’s Date)”.
12. Exit Classxp by selecting “File” --> “Quit”.
**The SASI support company warns against exiting Classxp by other methods.
Always use “File” --> “Quit”.
13. Log off or shut down your computer unless you will be
completing other tasks.
**Failing to log off of your computer provides students will access to Classxp
as well as files on your C:\ drive and network files.
** If an error in the attendance report is discovered after the report has been submitted, notify the attendance office of the error as soon as possible.
1. To view attendance for all students, open a class and select "Class" > "Class Attendance".
2. To view attendance for only one
student, click on a student's name and select "Personal" >
"Student Attendance".
*This will display the attendance record
for the entire year.
1. Select “Class” --> “Seating Charts”. The “Seating Charts” window will open.
2. In the Seating Chart window, select “Alphabetic” so that the name is displayed in the Chart Name window.
3. Click “Duplicate”. A new seating chart, “Alphabetic1” will be created.
4. Select the new file and click “Change” to give the file a new name. Type the desired name in the Chart Name window.
5. To move students, click and drag the student names on the seating chart.
6. To change the layout of the rows, select “Class” --> “Preferences” --> “Class”. Enter the desired number of rows and columns in the Class Preferences window.
**Students who have been added or removed from a class may not appear on customized seating charts. To new students to a customized seating chart, drag the student’s name from the class list to the seating chart.
Despite the numerous reasons for which printing a seating chart would be beneficial, the current version of Classxp does not support this feature. Below is one alternative method.
1. With the desired seating chart displayed, press the “Print Screen” button on the keyboard.
2. Open a new document in Word and then select “Edit” --> “Paste”.
3. Click on the image that appears and then select the “Crop” tool from the “Picture” toolbar.
4. Position the crop tool over a corner of the pasted image.
5. Click and drag the crop tool toward the center of the image to reduce the size.
6. Repeat the same procedure for the opposite corner of the image to trim the image.
7. Position and resize the image as desired on the page. You may also add text to identify your room number, grade level or other information.
8. Save the file for future reference and print the document.
**Some teachers may find it more efficient to make a
seating chart using text boxes without copying
and pasting from Classxp.
1. From the “Class” menu, select “Show Student List”.
2. Select “File”--> “Print”. The “Print Selection” window will open.
3. In the Print Selection window, select “An Expanded Table” and click “Ok”.
4. The “Print” window will open. Click “Ok”.

If grades are reported using Classxp, you do not need to use InteGrade Pro.
Moving from One Student to the Next
Classxp does not allow use of the Enter key, Return key, or the arrow keys to move directly from one student's grade to the next. Using the mouse to select the next student works but can be frustrating. The Tab key can be used to move from one student's grade to the next as long as the entire column is selected. To enable use of the Tab key:
1. Highlight the target grade column by clicking on the top of the column
(Example: 1st MP) .
2. Once the entire grading column is highlighted, use the mouse to click inside
the grade box for the first student.
3. After the grade for the first student is entered, the Tab key may be used to
move directly to the next student as long as the entire grading column remains
highlighted.
Printing Grade Verification Sheets Using Classxp
1. With the class grades displayed, arrange the class grades window so that it extends from top to bottom, as far as the screen will allow. (Classxp will only print what you see on your screen. If only 5 students are displayed, only the grades for 5 students will be printed.)
2. Select File > Print. Verify that "A Window" is selected and click "Ok".
3. To print students who were not displayed on the first page, scroll down the class window so that the students at the end of the class list are displayed and then print.
How Do I Know If My Grades Were Entered?
Grades can be viewed in Classxp to verify that everything was entered correctly.
Grades exported from InteGrade Pro will not be visible in Classxp until they are "picked up" by guidance and imported into Classxp. This may not be done until the end of the grade entrance period. Changes can be made to grades and comments in Classxp during the period provided for entering grades. If changes need to be made after this time, use the grade edit form available in guidance.
To Add or Change an Email Address in Classxp
Email addresses in Classxp are made available to InteGrade Pro and can be
used to send progress reports by email.
1. Right click a student on the seating chart and select “Parent Guardian”.
2. In the Parent Guardian window, enter the email address for the contact in the
“Email Address” box.
3. If more than one contact is available, click on the number of the contact
along the left side of the Parent Guardian window to view additional contacts.
4. Press “Ctrl” and “A” to add additional contacts.
Note: Adding an email address in Classxp will update the master records in guidance and will also update the appropriate email address in IGPro after the data exchange has been run.
