Accessing Your Voice Messaging Mailbox
1. Lift phone receiver, dial 7000. (“Call Pilot for Nortel Networks, Mailbox?” will play.)
*Any touchtone phone in the district can be used to log in to your voice messaging mailbox.
2. Enter your four digit extension (this is your mail box number) followed by the # key.
*When logging in to your own phone, you can press # without entering your extension first.
3. Enter your four digit password followed by the # key.
*Check with a technology trainer or submit a Technical Services Request if you do not know your temporary password.
First Log In, Password Has Expired
If you are logging in to a voice
messaging mailbox for the first time, or your password has been reset, you may
be notified that your password has expired and that you need to select a new
password.
1. Enter a four digit password followed by the # key.
2. After the message prompt, enter the same password a second time followed by the # key.
1. Log
in to your mailbox, press 84.
2. Enter
your new password, then press #.
3. Enter
your new password again, then press #.
4. Enter
your old password, then press #.
*If you forget your password, submit a technical services request and ask to have your password reset.
Forwarding Calls to Voicemail (Turning off ringer)
Forwarding all calls to voicemail will prevent the phone from ringing but will allow messages to be received by voicemail.
1. Lift the receiver, press #1. Hang up.
2. To remove the forwarding, allowing the phone to ring, repeat the procedure.
*Note: When a phone is set up with voicemail forwarding, the dial tone will sound as short tones rather than the normal, constant dial tone. Another way to verify a change is to call the extension from a different phone.
1. Log in to your mailbox.
2. A message will notify you if there are new messages in your mailbox.
Use the commands below to play, skip, and delete messages.
To review and respond
to your messages
While you are playing a message, you can use these message
commands:
Before, during, or
after playing a message, you can use these message commands:
1. Log
in to your mailbox, press 82.
2. Press
1 for external greeting, 2 for internal greeting, or 3 for temporary greeting.
3. Press
5 to record. Wait for the tone, then record your greeting.
4. Press # to end the recording.
Play, Delete, or Rerecord a Greeting
While
at your greeting (see Record a Greeting), you can play, delete, or rerecord it.
1. To play your greeting, press 2.
2. To delete your greeting, press 76.
3. To rerecord
your greeting, add to the end of it, or rerecord part of it, press 5 at the point in the greeting where
you want to start. Record a new greeting, then press #.
*The new recording erases the old one from the place where you start to rerecord.
Record a Personal Verification
Your
personal verification is a recording that is used in your greetings and
addressed messages.
1. Log
in to your mailbox, press 89. You
hear your current personal verification if there is one.
2. Press
5 to record. Wait for the tone, then state your name.
3. Press # to end the recording.
Play, Delete, or Rerecord a Personal Verification
If you delete your personal verification, your callers hear just your mailbox number or your name spelled one letter at a time.
1. To play your personal verification, press 2.
2. To delete your personal verification, press 76.
3. To rerecord
your personal verification, add to the end of it, or rerecord part of it, press
5 at the point in the greeting
where you want to start. Record a new greeting, then
press #.
*The new
recording erases the old one from the place where you start to rerecord.
You
can place a call to the sender of a message if the number is known to Meridian
Mail Voice Messaging.
1. After listening to a message or
while it is playing, press 9 to
call the sender.
2. Speak to the sender or leave a
message.
3. When you have finished your call,
hang up.
You
can record a reply to the sender of a message if the number is known to

while it is playing, press 71 to
reply to the sender.
Your
reply is addressed automatically. You do not have to enter a name or number.
2. Press 5 to record your reply. Wait for the tone, then begin recording.
3. Press # to end recording your reply.
4. To review your message, press 2.
5. Press 79 to send the message.
You
can forward a message to another mailbox, to a distribution list, or to a
telephone number. You can also record an introduction to the original message.
You cannot forward a message marked Private.
1. After listening to a message or
while it is playing, press 73 to
forward the message.
2. Enter the number to which you want
to forward the message, then press #. Repeat this step for each
additional number to which you want to forward the message.
3. If
you need to cancel an address, press 0#.
4. When you have finished entering
addresses, press # again to end
the list.
5. Press 5 if you want to record an introduction. Wait for the tone, then
begin recording.
6. Press # to end recording your introduction.

9. Press 79 to send the message.
