FINAL WEEKLY RECAP OF THE SEASON:
What an awesome end to our MS XC season-even the weather cooperated! There has been such growth from the beginning of the season to now from EVERYONE! It is just not in the performances but in team bonding as well! I hoped you enjoyed the "honorary captains" as much as I did. Hopefully each of you took away the experience of "leading your team" and being great role models.
I want to encourage you to use the journals each one of you received to keep track of each day you get out for a run and even your active rest days in the off season. You will be able to see your growth as a runner along the way. Track conditioning begins at the beginning of December so check your emails regularly. Don't forget to sign up for the "Raider Reindeer 4K" and encourage your family to sign up with you. It is a fun race during Bellefonte Victorian Christmas. I have attached the link to register below.
I want to take this opportunity to say a BIG thank you to all the parents for being a part of your son's/daughter's journey this season. Your support is greatly appreciated by them and especially by me. Now take a break from washing smelly xc clothes! Please encourage your son's/daughter's to continue their progress as runners.
If you are able to make it, our HS XC team will be chasing a chance at qualifying for the State XC championships next Saturday, October 28th, at the District VI XC Championships at the Indian Valley elementary school (aka Big Valley course) at 1:30 p.m. Varsity AA Girls and 2:15 p.m. Varsity AA Boys. I know they would appreciate all the support they can get in their quest for a trip to Hershey!
** IMPORTANT: If you are planning to take your runner home after a meet/invitational, a travel release form must be turned in to the COACH 24 hours prior to meet day.
Some things to remember for practice:
A watch to help keep track of timing and pace
Running shoes
A water bottle with your name on it
Comfortable shorts, shirt & socks (dress appropriately for the weather)
Positive attitude
Work hard mentality
Lots of Raider spirit and pride!

MESSAGE TO PARENTS
Your son/daughter has decided to run for the Red Raider MS cross-country team. Cross-Country? No way! My son/daughter is not going to run across the country!
As silly as that may seem, some people are ill informed about what cross-country really is. What is cross-country? It is a PIAA fall sport that involves running over varied terrain. In high school, the distance covered is 5KM (3.1 miles). In middle school, the distance covered 2KM-4KM (1.2-2.5 miles).
The coaching staff hopes that the cross-country experience for you and your son/daughter will be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. We will do our best to help each runner reach his or her full potential, learn life lessons and continue throughout their lifetime with what we feel is the most rewarding sport in the world.
If you have any questions regarding the program or of you have suggestions that may help our program, please feel free to contact me.
