Welcome to my website!

Grade/Subject: 11th grade English/Language Arts/Creative Writing

Thank you for visiting my webpage. After working as a Learning Support teacher for 14 years, I made the transition to 11th grade English. I also teach a creative writing class and advise the school's literary magazine, Ananda.

I am originally from Tyrone, PA, but after graduating from Juniata College with a degree in English Secondary Education, spent 13 years living in Eugene, Oregon. During my time in Oregon, I earned my Master's of Science degree in Special Education from the University of Oregon. I taught as a Special Education teacher in Eugene for 10 years before returning to Central PA in 2014. I also taught Special Education at Huntingdon Area High School before taking a position at Bellefonte in 2016. Although I returned to the general education setting in 2019, I am still an extensive advocate for people with disabilities. My favorite literature includes stories of marginalized characters overcoming great difficulties and still maintaining a strong moral code. As such, my favorite novel is Jane Eyre.

I look forward to sharing stories and other works of literature with my students and fostering a love of reading within them.
