Groundgreaking

Bellefonte Area School District hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, June 21 to commence and celebrate the start of construction for a new Elementary school at 830 E Bishop St. Bellefonte, PA 16832.

This building will incorporate a more modern and up-to-date learning environment and can house up to 750 students. The 98,000-square-foot space will include:

  • Flexible indoor and outdoor learning spaces, including a courtyard

  • Additional classrooms and dedicated spaces for the entire student body

  • Emotional support rooms

  • Life skills rooms

  • Media center

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) lab

  • Musical area with instrument storage

  • Multi-purpose room with a stage

  • Enhanced security system with cameras located throughout the building

School officials, community members, and project partners including SitelogIQ (Construction Manager), KCBA Architects, and Herbert, Rowland, & Grubic, Inc. (Civil, Geotechnical, and Traffic Engineer) were in attendance. Construction began in late May and is scheduled for completion in Spring 2026.
