A little over a month ago, the Red Raiders swim team competed at the PIAA State Championship meet at Bucknell University. As States came to end, so did the career of arguably the most decorated athlete in Bellefonte High School history.

Senior Kiaha McCool wrapped up her high school swimming career and now focuses on training to compete at the collegiate level, as she will head to Division 1 Texas Christian University. But before she graduates and heads off to Fort Worth, I want to take a minute to highlight the most dominant high school career I know I will ever be part of.

Here is a list of her high school accomplishments:

  • Team Record: Most points in a season: 684 (2022/23)

  • Team Record: Most points in a career: 2185.5

  • Undefeated in regular season dual meets for the entirety of her high school career: 79-0

  • Kiaha holds confirmed pool records at 4 pools, including a collegiate pool (Juniata College)

  • Part of 5 School Records:

    • 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 200 Medley Relay, and the 200 & 400 Freestyle Relays

  • Girl’s Team Record over her career: 42-10-1 with 4 consecutive District Team Championships

  • Kiaha is a 10-time District Champion and holds the district record in the 200 Freestyle and part of the 400 Freestyle Relay district record.

  • She is a 9-time Mt. League All Star and a 2-time Mt. League MVP. She is also a 5-time Laurel Highlands All Star.

  • Kiaha has been named team MVP 3-time and earned the Coach’s Award 1-time.

  • Kiaha has earned 7 1st Team All-State honors (1st through 8th) and 4 2nd Team All-State honors (9th through 16th).

In conclusion, it has been an honor and a privilege to coach Kiaha over these past four years, and to witness firsthand, in my opinion, the most accomplished Red Raider career in any sport. Go Frogs!
