In April, the annual Interscholastic Reading Competition was held at Bellefonte Area High School.  This competition is open to all charter schools, school districts, and nonpublic schools.  Teams consist of 6-12 students from 4th-6th grade.  Questions are based on a maximum of 25 age-appropriate books which the students read during the academic year.  Students are given the opportunity to compete against one another, in teams, to see who can correctly answer the most questions about the books they have read.  Most of our elementary schools had teams that participated in the event.  They all worked tremendously hard and we are very proud of them!

.Marion-Walker Elementary teams consisted of: Poseidon’s Pages (coached by Mrs. Haagen) and the Apollo’s Authors (coached by Mrs. DeFonzo).

.Pleasant Gap Elementary teams consisted of the Chapter Champs (coached by Mr. Montgomery) and the Reading Raiders (coached by Mrs. Rittenhouse).

.The Bellefonte Elementary team was called In Our Reading Era, which was coached by Sara Wolfe and Thea Leddy.  This team tied for second place in the whole competition!  Awesome job!
